Over half of Britain's young people plan to "semi-grate"

Deciding to move to Australia is a big commitment but for millions of young Britons it is seen as the best thing to do as the UK continues to ride out the global economic slump and deal with the consequences.

A recent survey carried out by Aviva UK Health revealed that around five and a half million young people between the ages of 18 and 30 are planning on "semi-grating", and working in another country. Australia was the top destination according to the poll, followed by the United States in second place and Canada in third. Spain and New Zealand finished off the top five.

While the majority of people are not keen to leave the UK behind forever, 56 per cent of people surveyed said they believe there are better employment prospects abroad. A total of 43 per cent said they think a year abroad would be long enough, while 20 per cent would consider spending three years away from the United Kingdom. According to the survey, 44 per cent of those people asked said they know of a friend or relative who has moved abroad for work in the last three years.

Visiting other parts of the world has become far easier in recent decades and as the survey shows, not only are a majority of young people considering heading overseas, but a significant proportion would consider staying for up to three years. That's a considerable amount of time to be away from home, and anyone staying for that length of time is likely to want to take some of their possessions with them.

Thanks to international shipping companies, moving your personal belongings to another country has never been easier, or cheaper. The industry's leading companies offer full and part load container services so if you do not have a mountain of stuff to take then don't worry because you won't need to pay for space that you do not use.

Requesting a quote is simple to do through the internet and you may well be surprised how reasonable it is to move your belongings to the other side of the world. If you don't need all your things straight away and can afford to have them shipped by sea, you'll usually find out things get even cheaper.

There are international removals firms in the market that have considerable experience in helping people to move their personal belongings to countries right across the world. Make sure you do plenty of research and find international movers who will treat your possessions with care and make your trip abroad stress free.
