What Are Rainforests?

Rainforests are areas covered by a lot of vegetation. They receive a lot of rainfall and most of it range between 1700 ' 200mm. They are home to over 75% of the world's indigenous plants species. These dense areas harbor millions of plants and small insects and sometimes microorganisms that have not been discovered. They are also very crucial to researchers in the medical field looking for herbal plants to heal stubborn diseases like cancer and Aids. The forests are responsible for the discovery of the world's best curative medicines. Rainforests also play a pivotal role in ensuring they release 28% of the world's oxygen. This happens after plants absorb carbon dioxide and through the photosynthesis process they give out oxygen. There are different kinds of forests like the Tropical Rainforests. They are found around the equator, Tropic of Cancer, Tropic of Capricorn and in Southeast Asia. Asia is endowed with such forests especially in Myanmar, Indonesia, Philippines and Papua New Guinea. Other forests are found in South America like the Amazon Rain Forests and Australia. Rainforests are also found in Africa in areas like Sub-Saharan Africa that is from Cameroon to Congo. In Democratic Republic of Congo, visit the Congo Rain Forests that is home to the endangered Mountain Gorillas. Temperate Rainforests are also found in temperate regions. They are found in North America especially the Pacific Northwest and British Columbia Forest. In Europe they make up famous British Isles such as the coastal areas of Ireland, Scotland and Norway. Other areas include Australia and New Zealand.
